Dungan Cooking Class

The Place for Delicious Encounters

Tie on an apron and step up to the fire – this is your chance to cook a few of your favourite Dungan dishes. Start from scratch to prepare laghman sauce and handmade noodles, learn the secrets of the popular spicy condiment laza, and bring it all together on a wood-fired stove known locally as a kazan. Gather afterwards around a table together with your friends to taste these delicious dishes you've made yourselves – and don't forget to shop for spices from the bazaar so you can make it again after you've returned home!

Tour Highlights

  • Learn to cook laghman*, one of Central Asia's most iconic dishes and a cornerstone of Dungan cuisine, directly from a Dungan cooking instructor.
  • Start from scratch to make the hand-pulled noodles that define the dish – it's a little more involved than you might expect!
  • Enjoy the results of your efforts topped with special Dungan vinegar and served alongside a homemade Madanur tea blend, some of the ingredients for which are grown on-site in an herb garden.

*Vegetarian menus are available upon request. Please inform of food allergies at the time of booking.
